Baked Tofu Bites
Good appetizers can be surprisingly easy to make. Tofu absorbs a simple marinade in only a few minutes in this recipe, adapted from the cheekily-named It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken (except that's what it tastes like). Then bake it until its got a bit of an edge and serve on a toothpick, toss it in a salad or throw it in some rice or pasta for a healthy, tasty main dish. Any left? Keep them in the fridge for a snack attack. Air Fryer instructions are given below the oven instructions.
Thank you to my beautiful granddaughter for introducing me to this recipe!

Time: 40-45 mins
Servings: 10-12 as an appetizer
Ingredients.
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 block (350g) extra-firm tofu, drained
Method - Oven:
Preheat an over to 375 degrees (190 C.)
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Drain the tofu and then place the block on a paper towel or on a rack to further drain while you make the marinade.
In a large bowl, mix together the olive oil, soy sauce and garlic powder.
Pat the block of tofu dry and break into small, eatable chunks into the bowl.
Toss the tofu in the marinade so all of the pieces are coated and the marinade is all gone. Spread the chunks out evenly on the parchment paper.
Bake the tofu for 30-40 minutes, shaking or turning halfway through. Bake until lightly golden and slightly crisp, according to your preference.
Serve warm or at room temperature. This appetizer keeps well in the fridge for further snacking.
Method - Air Fryer:
Preheat your air-fryer to 350F (180C).
Drain the tofu and let sit on a paper towel while you make the marinade.
In a large bowl, mix together the olive oil, soy sauce and garlic powder.
Break the block of tofu into small chunks and add them to the bowl.
Toss the tofu well in the sauce mixture to evenly coat. Toss until all the sauce is absorbed.
Add the tofu to the air-fryer and cook for about 20 minutes, shaking halfway through, until lightly golden.
Serve hot or store in an air-tight container in the fridge, or freeze to use later.
